MUSIC EVENINGS AT KAMIČAK FORT

13.08.19

“Music can change the world.” – L. van Beethoven
“Where words fail, music speaks.” – H. C. Andersen
“Without music, life would be a mistake.” – F. Nietzsche

Kamičak, diminutive form of a name, but of infinite potential, has recently been given a new splendorous look thanks to the renovations within the project Sinj u sridu. 307 years ago, a rather small, star-shaped bastion was built which, at the time, served as an observatory with the clock tower which is completely functional to this day. Cast in one of the most famous foundries, the foundry Colbachini in the Veneto region, Italy, the bell shows time impeccably, defying the tooth of time. Authentic and unique open-air stage makes an ideal coulisse for concerts, and the Sinj Tourist Board has successfully organized by throughout the years. Somewhat neglected genres of traditional, classical and jazz music are extremely well accepted in the city of Alka. So far, Kamičak has hosted the Academic Accordion Orchestra “Ivan Goran Kovačić”, Sara Renar, Jazz swing quintet “Repassage”, wind quintet “Kalamos” and, since 2017, supported by the Ministry of Culture of Republic of Croatia, also the unique “Sudar Percussion” ensemble from Samobor, ethno musician Dunja Knebl with the band Kololira and ethno group Veja. All performances wowed the audience, and the atmosphere of the old fort under the stars was in the style of Sinj: a hit in the central circle of the Alka ring – u sridu.

We have an outstanding program this year; August 17, 2019, beginning at 8:30 p.m. and ending at 11 p.m., the best of jazz music will be presented by the world-renowned performers Ratko Zjača – Stefano Bedetti and Nocturnal Four.

Ratko Zjača is the giant of the modern Jazz and Improvised music. The innovative guitar player and the author of numerous solo and collaborative albums, studied in Zagreb, Rotterdam and New York. He says that he is open to all music styles, starting from American jazz, Indian classical music, English rock and European classical music. It would be a sin to miss his performance accompanied by the loyal Nocturnal band – Renato Chicco, Stefano Bedetti and Antonio Sanchez.
